Hello and welcome! I am a portrait, professional sports, and editorial photographer with a passion for conveying emotion through imagery. My greatest joy is meeting new people and connecting with their stories through my work. I am shamelessly uncomfortable talking about myself. Ironic given my superpower is drawing out the true personality of those in front of my lens through conversation.
I bought my first real camera at a pawn shop at age 16 and have been snapping photos ever since. Inspired by my early love of pictures, including World War II and 1960’s era visuals, my work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and published across the U.S. and internationally. Professional assignments have taken me worldwide, from China to Turkey.
A careerlong NBA and WNBA photographer for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx, I am the house photographer for U.S. Bank Stadium, Target Center, and Treasure Island Resort & Casino. My portfolio spans multiple industries, with a special interest in fashion related projects. A project I am particularly proud of is Transfer of Memory, a touring portrait exhibition I co-founded in 2010 and book featuring Minnesota Holocaust survivors and their stories.
Born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, my home base is now Minneapolis, where I share life with my wife and extended family. I’m a dad to four grown children and blessed with several grandchildren. Prior to entering the world of photography, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics/Finance from Purdue University. Early in my career, I worked in marketing and sales before pursuing photography fulltime. Outside of work, I love to bike and spend time outdoors and with my family.
